Eileen Ruth Jess

August 2, 1922- February 8, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Eileen Jess on February 8, 2019 in South Surrey at the age of 96. She was born in Wabigoon, Ontario and moved to Chilliwack, B.C. with her family when she was very young. Eileen married Richard (Jim) Jess in 1945 and moved to a logging camp at 20 Mile Bay on Harrison Lake for 10 years. After that they moved back to Chilliwack where they raised their two children James and Vickie. In 2008 she moved to South Surrey with her daughter and son-in-law until 2018 when she required more care. Eileen loved spending time with her grandchildren, who gave her great pleasure. Gardening, fishing, watching hockey, knitting and RVing to Desert Hot Springs and Yuma were some of her favorite pastimes. She volunteered for the Chilliwack Hospital Auxilary for close to 20 years and in 2006 was honored at the 20th annual Ann Davis Commemorative Celebration. She was kind, caring, supportive and always ready to lend a hand. She is predeceased by her husband Jim of 50 years, son James, sister Irene and brothers Len, Wilf and Fred. Eileen is survived by her daughter Vickie (Robert), grandchildren Mandi and Richard, daughter-in-law Ruth and 4 great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Debra, her companion for the last year and all the wonderful caring staff at Morgan Heights. She will be dearly missed.
