Obituary of Ernest "Everett" Elkington
“Leave room in Your Garden for the Angels to Dance" Ernest "Everett" Elkington passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2018 surrounded by love and family. Everett, born in 1921 is survived by his wife Irene, son's Don and Brent, grandsons Anthony and Tannor and his sister Mabel. He was predeceased by Brother Howard, sisters Joyce and Lucy, and his dear parents Lillian and Alfred whom he adored. Born is Saskatchewan, he was a proud Prairie resident where he raised his two boys. Loyal to the Church and his friendship with square dancers and the Lions and Legion members, Everett and Irene had a flourishing social life which they cherished. In 1985 they retired to the Coast, on brother in law Lorne McKinnon's recommendation and never looked back. Their boys followed them and settled themselves only blocks away from their beloved parents. Elegant, always well dressed, clear and intelligent to the end, Dad was an inspiration to his children and Grandchildren and the pillar of strength to his "little Irene". A life well lived, with integrity and strength, Everett Elkington was our pillar, an example to follow. Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather, friend, Veteran, community member, a gentleman in every sense of the word. A Graveside Memorial will be held in his honour on Wednesday December 5th at 11am at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre - 14831 - 28th Avenue, South Surrey, British Columbia. The Family asks in lieu of flowers a donation to the Crescent Beach Legion #240 would be an honour for Dad.
