Obituary of Janetta Callander Buchanan
Janetta Callander Buchanan passed away at Hospice Peace Arch in White Rock, BC on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the age of 93. She moved to live with her son Bruce in Langley after her husband, Norman Buchanan, died in 2008. For the past 3 years, Netta enjoyed her friends and activities at Whitecliff Seniors Residence in White Rock. She was born in Scotland in 1925. There she met and married her handsome soldier husband in 1944. Soon after, they moved to St. Stephen New Brunswick. There she raised five children and happily became involved in community activities, such as curling, IODE, Brownies, and all needs of family and friends. Her reputation as a fabulous cook, gardener, Presbyterian, and fun friend, followed her to BC. Netta was always willing to listen to a good story, often repeating it with exaggeration and gesture for dramatic effect. Many shall miss her quick wit, naughty laughter, and generous spirit. Netta is predeceased by her parents Sandy and Kate Wilson, her sisters Cena, Mina, Mary, Jessie and Cathie, her brother Roddie, her husband Norman, her son John, and her daughter Pamela Lawson. She is survived by her sister Lily Edgar, her daughters Janice and Gale, her son Bruce and his spouse Linda Wei and her son Steven45, Netta's son-in-law George Lawson, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her friends and family are invited to a service at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 28th Ave, Surrey, Wednesday May 16, 2018, at 1pm. Online condolences may be sent to their website at www.victorymemorialpark.com. Memorials may be given to Peace Arch Hospice Society
