Obituary of Leslie Alexander Dionne
It is with great sadness that we announce that the Lord has taken Les home. He passed away peacefully at Sechelt Hospital, Sechelt, BC with his loving family by his side. Les was a retired Fire Captain, husband, father, grandfather and devout Christian. As in his career and in life, this faced his final challenge dealing with acute myeloid leukemia with incredible courage, calmness, dignity and strength. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 37 years, Wilma, his son Danny Dionne (Charlene), granddaughters Olivia and Avery; daughter Melissa Cameron (Cory) and granddaughter Ciara. Les lived most of his life in White Rock, BC. After graduating from high school he was immediately hired on to Sea Span Tugs and worked the next four years along the coast of BC. He loved being on the water, just not in it. In October 1972 Les was hired on as a full-time firefighter with the City of Surrey Fire Service and retired as Captain Les Dionne Badge #55 in June 2009, after 40 years of service including his volunteer time. Les then moved with his wife to Sechelt, BC where they have enjoyed the natural beauty of the area, hiking, fishing and spending many hours on the water with their boat. It is with grateful hearts that we want to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Simon Reznick, Dr. Sara Wadge, to all the wonderful staff at Sechelt hospital Ambulatory Daycare Unit, and the Homecare/Palliative nurses. He received such excellent care. Line of Duty Death Service will be held at Peace Portal Alliance Church, Friday, March 9. 2018 at 1pm, 15128 27B Avenue, Surrey, BC In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society https://surreyfirefighters.com/charitablesociety/
