Pamela Jean Moore

Pamela Jean Moore, age 67, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on, Monday, August 13, 2018 at Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner. Pam was born in Masterton, New Zealand on August 8, 1951. She lived in New Zealand until 1979 (minus a short stint in Tasmania around 1975) when she and her then husband and her two children moved to Canada. She worked as a registered nurse in New Zealand, Tasmania, and in two provinces in Canada. In the late eighties she chose to leave nursing and enter the world of business. At first she started a small daycare business, named Fun and Friends, which ran only for a short time until she chose to help her then husband with his entrepreneurial dreams. By the mid nineties she left this line of work and tried a few different occupations. But by the early 2000’s she was back to “helping” people again; where she worked and volunteered with the Delta police force, crisis line, and hospice center. She continued her “helping” well into her retirement where she was involved with her church and various fundraising programs including a “pie-making group”. On March 23, 1974, Pam married James Greatbanks and after 20 years of marriage, they divorced. She remarried Michael Sinclair, on January 29th, 1999, “a deliciously mischievous man” (her words) with a “fabulously creative eye”. Mike has three adult sons, Dean, Neil, and Aaron whose company she cherished greatly. Pam valued beyond words, the connection and communication between her family. As especially evident with her sisters, Barbara, Patricia and Julie. Pam was fond of sedentary pastimes; anything to do with words was considered an especially good thing, which was visible by the release of her book “Moore of Us”. She read constantly and was a news and documentary junkie. She was easily soothed by open fields (with rustic barns), a public garden, a sandy beach, or a stormy shoreline (complete with historic light house). She had a soft spot for animals of all kinds. And she wasn’t shy about sharing with others that cooking bored her, even though she was a tremendous cook. Pam is survived by her husband, Michael, her two children; Tony (Donna) and Leigh (Aaron); her grandchildren; Jillian, Terry & Ella, Michaels sons; Dean (Shannon), Neil (Jacqueline) & Aaron (Stacey), Michaels grandchildren; Levi, Ben, Maggie, Liam & Payton, her sisters; Barbara, Patricia & Julie, her cat, Muffin, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pam is preceded in death by her parents Ernest Edward (Ted) Moore and Olive Jessie Moore, and her pets; Sammy, Chelsea, and Molly. The funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on August 23rd at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Center. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Canadian Cancer Society.
