Margaret ‘Margie’ Alice King
Glace Bay
In her 75th year, Margaret (Margie) Alice King died peacefully on March 7, 2019. Margie was born with cerebral palsy on October 6, 1944 . She attended school at Holy Redeemer Girls’ School and Coby Elementary until a debilitating stroke left her bedridden at the age of 15. Even though the prognosis for her survival was not good, our parents, Mary Christina and Harold King, cared for Margie at home for the next 36 years.
The King family would like to thank our youngest sister Patricia and her husband Bernie Steele for the dignified care and affection they gave to Margie over the past 24 years. Our thanks also extends to the staff at Victoria Haven who worked diligently to ensure that Margie’s needs were met with compassion.
Margie is predeceased by her father Harold, her mother Christina, and her brother William Reginald. She is survived by her siblings Harold, Joan, Robert, Bernie, Joseph, Paul and Patricia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cape Breton Cerebral Palsy Association are appreciated.
