Obituary of David Lee Bucher
David L. Bucher, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 11, 1948, in Bloomfield to Myles Francis and Laurel Marie (Wright) Bucher. David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rosa Bucher of Terre Haute; sister, Debra Ramsey and husband Danny of Odon; grandchildren, Michaela Savant and Dominic Savant of Terre Haute; son-in-law, Troy Savant of Terre Haute; brothers-in-law, David Keith of Terre Haute and Mike Keith of Port St. John, FL; sister-in-law, Nancy Manwarring of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Myla Bucher Savant in 2011. David proudly served in the United States Army. He fought in Vietnam, serving two tours of duty and earning a Bronze Star. After returning to Indiana, he married the love of his life, Rosa Keith on November 1, 1969. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Bemis for forty years. He was a member of the Rosedale American Legion, VFW Post 972, and the American Legion Riders. An avid outdoorsman, David loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle. An inseparable pair, David and Rosa enjoyed each other’s company on the many road trips they took on David’s black Harley Davidson. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a great man with a great spirit that will be truly missed. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 6 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7 at the funeral home with Chaplain Bill Felker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rosedale American Legion.
