Donald V. Moore

Donald V. Moore, 87, passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2019. Donald was born April 13, 1932 in Concord, NC. Don enjoyed fishing and showing off his 1956 custom Dodge Royal. He served in the Army and the National Guard. Graduated in 1960 from Catawba College and worked at Holly Hill Cemetery for around 30 years. Helping people in their time of need was his calling. Don had a strong Christian faith and was a true servant of God. He passed out oranges to most of Thomasville’s residents over the years while sharing a joke or two. We have been told story after story of him dropping off groceries, coats and toys to families in need. He would often just leave them on their porch, not looking for credit nor a thank you. Don would say” life is about what you do for others while you are on this earth”. He lived that way and made an impact on our community. This is the point where our Uncle Don would hold his hands up, wiggle his fingers and say, “you never know what’s going to come your way”. Donald is preceded in death by his mother, Eula Mills Moore; and brothers Horace Calvin Moore and William Frank Moore. Donald is survived by his brothers Stan Moore and Earl Moore; nephews Brian Moore, Gary Moore, Johnny Moore and Robert Earl Moore; and nieces Julie Moore-Love and Ashley Moore-Armfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donald’s name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262. No services for Donald are scheduled at this time.
