James Thomas Walsh

James T. Walsh, age 58, of Traverse City passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016 at Munson Medical Center. He was born February 21, 1958 in Garden City, NY to George Vincent and Doris Jeanne (McDonald) Walsh. He grew up in the New York and Connecticut area. Jim moved to the Traverse City area 20 years ago after spending a short time in Colorado, where his daughter, Amanda, was born. Jim worked as a watch engineer for AT&T, but his real passion was music. He played the guitar and piano and was a fan of rock n’ roll. Jim was a life time learner and was extremely intelligent. He had taught himself French, Calculus, and physics. Jim is survived by his daughter Amanda Walsh of Chicago; siblings: Nancy (Andrew) Johnson of Roslyn Heights, NY, Jeanne Schauer of Vero Beach, FL, and George (Evelyn) Walsh of Winchester, VA, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.
