Lenitha "Lynne" McColl

McColl, Lenitha “Lynne”, passed away after a brief illness on November 14, 2018 in New Westminster. She is survived by her loving husband, Andy, daughters Nadine Classen and Roseanne Sestito (Joe) and son, Rocky Samborski (Dalene); grandchildren Daryl Classen (Rhea), Dustin Classen (Robin), Sebastian Samborski and Zoey Samborski; great-grandchildren Jaden, Sofia, Violet, and Liam. Also stepchildren (in Scotland) Andrew McColl and Catriona Derrick; grandchildren Jennifer Buchanan (David) and Christopher Derrick; and great-grandchildren Faith, Hannah and Zoe. A much loved “Granny” to the younger generations. Born in Tramping Lake, SK, on13 April 1939 as the second of ten children, she was predeceased by sister Beatrice and brothers Greg, Dennis and Dale. In 1956 Lynne moved to Manitoba to train as a nurse but left to get married and raise a family. In 1968 that marriage broke up and she moved to BC with her three kids and Andy, forming what would prove to be a lifelong loving commitment. In 1971 she completed training as a LPN and began working in Royal Columbian Hospital, switching to Unit Clerking about 1980, retiring in 2001. Raised a Catholic, Lynne returned to the church in the late ‘seventies, was a member of CWL and performed volunteer duties as “greeter” for a number of years. Lynne’s hobby during the ‘eighties and ‘nineties was creating beautiful petit point, a form of canvas embroidery. What she enjoyed even more was being a grandmother and great grandmother. She played a significant role in helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they came along. She made the world a brighter place for all who knew her. Funeral Mass will be held at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Parish, 2888 Delahaye Drive, Coquitlam, at 11 am, Tuesday, November 20.
