OBITUARY
Peter James Nolan
May 29, 1950 – October 23, 2018
IN THE CARE OF
Hamilton Harron Funeral Home
Peter passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer this past year. Predeceased by his parents, Peter & Mary Nolan, and dear friends, Ron, Gordie & John.
Survived by his brother, Blair, nephew Blair Jr., Claire Nolan, his nieces Lauren, Brooke & Jenna, Brother-in-law Doug Melton (Judy), and the extended Melton family. Also, Monica & Grant Torget, the Spargo Family with May & Jake, and the extended Nolan family.
Peter arrived in Canada from Kilmarnock, Scotland when he was just a youngster and quickly made friends through his witty personality and love for the game of soccer. With skill, a competitive spirit and the will to succeed, he earned the admiration and respect of all he came in contact with on the soccer pitch and in life.
In 1993, Peter was a transplant recipient, and it changed his life and set his future on a new path.
At the age of 43, Peter enrolled at the University of British Columbia where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Social Work. This became his passion as he spent 11 years at Bladerunners assisting and counselling at-risk youth in the Downtown Eastside. His University degree and his career in counselling was an achievement both Peter and his family were very proud of.
Life had its challenges along the way for Peter, but he faced them head on in Stubborn Scot fashion.
He will be missed
Ae fond kiss, and then we sever;
Ae Farewell, Alas, Forever!
