Gloria Elspeth Harvey

Gloria Elspeth Harvey (MacKay) 1922-2019 Our Mother... Grandmother...Great Grandmother... passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 30 2019... Gloria was a true pioneer of Vernon.. born in Vernon to Francis and Elspeth MacKay of Mackay’s Prescriptions. She attended school in Vernon and was a woman of many talents...as a youth she skied Silver Star before it was a ski hill.. she loved music and dancing ...she was an avid gardener her roses and flower beds were well tended to...her artistic talents were evident in her many paintings... also very active in the Vernon Figure Skating Club as a Monitor or working well into the night sewing sparkly skating costumes for her daughters and other skaters performing in the Silver Blades Ice Review... Gloria had a deep love and compassion for animals offering sanctuary to stray cats and dogs or whatever we may bring home. Gloria and Bob met in Vernon and were married in 1950 calling Vernon their home where they would raise their family.. Gloria was predeceased by her parents Francis and Elspeth MacKay... her husband Robert Harvey.... her brother Douglas MacKay she is survived by her daughters Betty Jane Harvey (Jim) and Barbara Ann Cooper ( Gary) 5 granddaughters Tania, Natalia, Stefanie, Carlie and Kimberlie and 10 great grandchildren. Mom you will be missed and thought of often... Dance On!! There will be a small service at a later date.
