Obituary of Margaret Florence Asleson
It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Margie (Margaret) Asleson on November 18, 2018. Margie was born in Fort St John, BC on March 16, 1943, however the family resided on their farm in Taylor, BC prior to moving to Fort St. John, BC. Margie was predeceased by her husband Ozzie Asleson on January 10, 2016, her son Trent Asleson on April 1, 1997. Margie is survived by her son Marty (Veerle), Granddaughters Demi, Ally, Sarah and Miranda. Great granddaughter Carter Lynn. She is survived by her sister Beverley Stirling, brothers Gary Moore (Kathy) and Dennys Moore (MaryAnne). Also survived by her sister in law Marian Hoover, brother in law Elton Asleson (Barb), brother in law Wayne Asleson (Fay), Sister in law Penny Dunn (Willard) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margie was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Moore, 2013. Margie spent a few years on a family farm in Taylor BC then the family moved to Fort St John, where her father started the FSJ Lumber Company. Margie spent her elementary years in Fort St John, before the family moved to Dawson Creek, BC with Margie attending school in Vancouver BC. Margie and Ozzie met in Dawson Creek, BC, and married on September 2, 1961 they both enjoyed heading out to Toms Lake and South Dawson for Saturday night dances. They spent 25 years in Northern BC enjoying the outdoors and being near family. August 1985 Margie and Ozzie moved to Vernon, they purchased the Coldstream Market where she met a lot of people who remained close with Margie. After selling the store Margie joined Kal Tire where she worked for the next 15 years before retiring. When Ozzie passed away in 2016, Beverley (Margie sister) moved to Vernon and together they enjoyed a few trips to Casa Grande in Arizona, visiting their brother Gary and Kathy. They enjoyed going for Breakfast at “The Green” lunch at the Casino and Wings at the Outboard. When Margie made a friend it was a friend for life. She will deeply missed by all. In lieu of flowers those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Margie may do so to the charity of their choice.
