DOLL, WILLIAM HAROLD – aged 91 years.
Surrounded by his loving family, Harold passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, on December 3, 2018, at the Priory Hospital in Langford, BC.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice in 1979. He is survived by their eight children: Lorenzo (Nola), Richard (Sandy), Garry (Martina), Gordon (Ann), Bob (Bonnie), Gerald (Lori), Larry (Sandy) and Annette.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Frances Doll. He is survived by his step-children David (Luanne) Lanthier, Lorraine Lanthier (daughter-in-law), Lolly Wilkinson, Michele (Kevin) Atchison, Jackson Lanthier and Caprice (John) Jopson. Predeceased by step-son Roch Lanthier and son-in-law John Wilkinson.
Born in 1927 in Neville, Saskatchewan, Harold married Alice Monette on October 11, 1949, and moved to Vancouver Island with his young family in the early 1950s. He was a long-time employee of the Esquimalt Municipality. He enjoyed working on cars, building campers, and renovating houses; he also loved the thrill of wheeling and dealing.
He considered himself fortunate to find love a second time when he met Fran Lanthier; they were married on July 14, 1991. They shared a deep love of family, enjoyed many a road trip together, volunteered at the Juan de Fuca Seniors’ Centre, and were highly involved at their local church, Our Lady of the Rosary in Langford. Together, Harold and Fran shared thirty-three grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Our family wishes to express its deepest appreciation for the care and compassion Harold received over the last three years from the staff at the Priory Hospital.
