Mr. Hendrik Verwest

VERWEST, Hendrik (Hank), P.Eng. November 2, 1928 - September 3, 2019 We announce with great sadness that our dear father and grandfather, Hank Verwest, has passed away. He was predeceased in 2009 by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara. Hank will be fondly remembered by his two daughters, Joanne and Robin, grandchildren Shoshana, Brigham, Paul and Somerset; by his sister Lidy in the Netherlands; as well by relatives and friends. Hank was born and raised in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and was a graduate in mechanical engineering of the Delft Institute of Technology in the Netherlands. He immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1955, where he joined the Sandwell consulting engineering company, from which he retired in 1993. The Verwests were transferred to Zürich in 1961, followed by postings in Montreal, Stockholm and London, England, before returning to Vancouver in 1980. Hank’s work involved design and project management for the international pulp and paper industry, which required extensive international travel. In 1972 he was promoted to Vice President of the Sandwell Group. We want to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Lions Gate Hospital for their care and support. A memorial service will be held at St. David’s United Church, 1525 Taylor Way, West Vancouver on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
