John "Jm" Michael Ambruso, III

John Michael “JM” Ambruso III, 30, of Wethersfield, passed away on July 28, 2019. John Michael was born on February 15, 1989 in Hartford. Growing up in Wethersfield, he was a 2007 graduate of Wethersfield High School. While in high school, he was a member of the 2007 State Champion Eagles Hockey Team. He remained active with the Wethersfield Eagles, participating in the Annual Alumni Banquet Game and Fundraiser. It was there he enjoyed the opportunity to get on the ice again with his former high school friends, in the goal. John Michael worked closely with his father and was employed at Wethersfield Small Engine Services. He loved all animals large and small and his dog, Boris was always by his side, as they greeted customers at the shop. Music was always John Michael’s passion and he was an accomplished self-taught drummer with the band, Zen Lunacy. He truly enjoyed the time he spent with his close friends and bandmates, Kristen and Kevin playing and composing their own music, and always looking forward to their practice sessions. John Michael was always with his Dad and some of the best memories were made with all their friends enjoying car races at Lime Rock. The Wethersfield Small Engine “campsite” at Lime Rock grew over the years and John Michael, the resident tech expert, set up a sophisticated AV system at the park, complete with real time race coverage. John Michael is lovingly survived by his father, John M. Ambruso, Jr. of Wethersfield and his wife Tracy (Kelly) Ambruso. He is also survived by his mother, Kim M. Middleton of East Hartford. He leaves his aunt, Janice L. Ambruso and her husband John M. Monacella of Hartford. In addition, he is survived by his maternal grandparents Diane and Joe Middleton of Torrington, his uncle, Joe Middleton, Jr. and his wife Lori; and his cousins Allison and Page of Torrington. He also leaves Mrs. Bette Kelly, formerly of Wethersfield. John Michael was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Yolanda Ambruso. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, August 2nd from 4 – 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. that evening. John Michael was a kind and generous person and he continues his legacy by giving the gift of life through his organ, eye and tissue donation.
