Obituary of Anita Hamilton
Anita Hamilton was born August 21 1918, in Estevan Saskatchewan. Over the course of the next 101 years Anita would hold many titles, store clerk, store manager, crop insurance office clerk, book keeper and treasurer and confidential secretary, to name a few. But perhaps her most important titles in life were those of wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Anita was well known as a loyal, dedicated and kind woman. She spent countless hours volunteering or working for a small stipend for those causes she believed in. Anita was a wife to David, a mom to Bill and Phyllis, and a grandmother to Jackie, Frances, Laura, Trenton and Janine. In later years Anita would welcome 17 great grand children and one great great grand child. Her short bread cookies were second to none, and there was often a rhubarb pie warming in the kitchen. When she wasn’t baking she could be found working on a petite point picture or crocheting any number of items. Anita always had a candy in her purse to share - and in later years she kept the nursing home canteen in business as she bought many caramilk chocolate bars. Six days after turning 101 Anita took her final breath and was finally reunited with her loved ones who have gone before. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Weyburn Special Care home who were always so kind and compassionate as Anita lived among them for 8 years. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Edna & Bertrum Robinson; husband, David Hamilton; brother, Harvey; brother-in-law, Mel Hammond; great grandson, Garnet; granddaughter, Jacqueline Duff and sister-in-law, Mae Robinson. Anita will be lovingly remembered by her son, Bill Hamilton of Stony Plain, AB; daughter, Phyllis Love of Weyburn, SK; sister, Muriel Hammond of Edmonton, AB; brother, Vernon Robinson of Saskatoon, SK; Grandchildren, Frances (David) McDiarmid, Laura (Colin) Spencer, Janine (Scott) Ridgway, Trenton (Brianne) Hamilton and John Duff; great grandchildren, Alicia, Renee, Shameeka, Makalia, Anaka, Christena, Jeffrey, Emily, Robert, Rachel, Natalie, Cecilia, Dakota, Shania, MaryAnn & Rebecca; great great granddaughter, Grace as well as other nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. A Celebration of Anita's Life will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Weyburn Free Methodist Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Pastor Jody Pfeifer officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Donations in memory of Anita may be made to Weyburn Free Methodist Church or Weyburn Special Care Home.
