Obituary of Bernard Joseph Jordan
Bernard Joseph Jordan 1927 ~ 2018 Jordan, Bernard Joseph, born April 30, 1927, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Bernard was predeceased by his parents, Mary Carmel & Patrick Francis Jordan; his wife, Mildred Jordan; son, Grady Jordan and daughter, Leslie MacKenzie; brothers: Neil, Don, Cecil, Patrick; sisters: Elaine, Noreen, Kathleen, Mae, Sheila, Frances and Connie. Bernard will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Craig Jordan of Saskatoon, SK; Kirby Jordan of Calgary, AB; one daughter, Gina (Bill) Abel of Regina, SK; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bernard was employed with SaskPower for more than 30 years. He was a member of the crews that built the first power lines in the province, thus supplying electricity to most areas of rural Saskatchewan. The majority of his career at SaskPower was spent in Weyburn as a lineman/district operator for the city and surrounding areas. He was a longstanding member of Alcoholics Anonymous and helped many people find the road to recovery from their addiction. Bernie was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching boxing and was also a Montreal Canadiens fan when the team was at the top of their game in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. His favourite pastime was to watch the “ponies” race. He loved both the “trotters” (harness racing) and thoroughbreds. He spent many hours working on his scratch sheets, studying the horses, memorizing their names, track records and histories. He and his wife, Mildred, travelled the western provinces from Winnipeg to Vancouver to follow the horse races. He also loved a good game of poker. Bernie had a quick wit and a sense of humour. He enjoyed joking with people. About a year after Mildred passed away, Bernie developed some major health issues and upon the advice of his doctor, moved into Crocus Plains Villa for a short time. He was later moved to Tatagwa View and spent the remainder of his years there. Prayers were said on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Father Francis Plaparampil celebrating.
