Rachel F. Coleman

Reflections of a Beautiful Life Rachel Frances Coleman’s life began on June 17, 1938 to Pauline Harrison in El Reno, Oklahoma. She never knew who her father was and was raised by her mother and grandmother. Her mother died when she was just beginning to embark on her young adult life. Grandmother Martha Ransom continued to bring her up in the ways of the Lord. Her grandmother instilled in her a love for God and a "Prayer Warriors’" life while attending the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She received her formal education at Booker T. Washington in El Reno, Oklahoma. After the death of her grandmother she moved to Wichita, KS where she began working various jobs to take care of her children. Later she met and married E. J. Coleman, who was stationed at McConnell Airforce base. My mother has always had a very hard-working ethic. She retired from Boeing Company before her husband passed away to have just a few moments with each other. She said that she had never felt love like this! After her retirement she volunteered as the cook for the New Zion Christian Academy and the Agape Daycare Center. She believed in feeding children whether they arrived at school on time or not! And always with a real hot cooked meal – No microwave food. Mother Coleman or as others refer to her as “Grandma” met no strangers as a “Prayer Warrior” when the Spirit of God moved upon her to pray for you, she did just that. Her Pastor referred to her as the Queen of New Zion. She would battle in spiritual warfare for this body in the Kingdom, and for that we are eternally grateful. She knew that her time with us was ending and she gave her mantle to another “Prayer Warrior” women. Mother Coleman is preceded in death by her mother and grandmother, Pauline Harrison and Martha Ransom, beloved cousin Eardean Brown, husband E. J. Coleman, son Rev. Clark Coleman, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Co-Pastor Pamaline King-Burns (Pastor Ronald Burns), Martha Darby, Rhonda Williams (Pastor Calvin Williams, Sr.) of Wichita, KS, Carla Brown of Arlington, TX. Special daughters, Etta Atkins, Elizabeth Carey and Brenda Spencer of Wichita, KS, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren….God blessed her life - it was only her as a child but look at the legacy she leaves behind to continue the work of God on the Earth.
