Bruce Allan Tisdale

Bruce Allan Tisdale November 30, 1946 – July 4, 2019 After a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer, Bruce passed away in Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital on beautiful sunny afternoon. Predeceased by his parents, Murray and Peggy Tisdale of Brandon, MB and survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Lindsay and Laura (Cory), sister Carol, nephew Jason (Cole and Taylor), niece Niki (Chris) (Miles), his Uncle Basil and cousins from Estevan and Toronto. His in-laws Lionel, Bobby (Arlene), Jeffrey (Kim), Kelly, Connie, Sandy (deceased), Debbie, Maxine, Claudia as well nieces and nephews. Born in Estevan, SK, Bruce moved to Brandon, MB where he played hockey and attended Manitoba Vocational Center, before moving to Winnipeg and graduating from Red River Community College, obtaining his apprenticeship in the trade of Construction Electrician in 1974. As many who knew him, he went on to become a “Jack of All Trades” by the time he finally retired. Always willing to give a hand with carpentry, plumbing, small projects and of course electrical to family, friends and neighbours. He was employed by Comstock, Province of Manitoba, Colliers International and 20 VIC Management Inc. where his skill set was used for Construction Project Managing for St. Vital Centre, three separate large shopping malls in Alberta as well as Hilton Hotel in Whistler, requiring him to travel weeks at a time before finally retiring (twice!) Married to Barbara Ditz on September 20, 1975 in Brandon, MB, they bought a new home on Continental Avenue in Winnipeg in the winter of 1978. It is on this street that they made lifelong friends with neighbours and raised their children alongside same. It remains the one and only home they shared. Many memories were made here. Family vacations were spent at Clear Lake when the family was young. He supported his girls as they traveled to tournaments near and far for softball as they grew up. He always ensured that his “three girls” were taken care of at any cost and supported their life endeavors. Bruce was a proud 43 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion #215 as his father served in WWII as a gunner. He enjoyed his leisure time spent with Huskies Slo-Pitch team, playing dart leagues, curling, and was an avid golfer, a member of Pine Ridge and Larters Golf Courses. Those who shared these activities with Bruce could attest to his passion, he always strived to perform better than okay! Not a man of many words, Bruce was humble, strong willed, meticulous and kind with a dry sense of humor. Organization was his way of life and instructions were always read front to back! His family has him to thank for passing along these as well as many other qualities to guide them in the future. Cremation was observed at Thompson in The Park on Wednesday, July 10 by Barbara’s immediate family. As per Bruce’s request, no funeral service was held. Some of Bruce’s ashes will be scattered in Estevan, SK where both sets of his grandparent’s rest and at Brandon Veteran’s Cemetery where his father and mother are laid to rest. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff at Cancer Care Manitoba, Home Care, Concordia Hospital, 5EWest and the Palliative ward at St. Boniface Hospital. Thank you for guiding and assisting our family through Bruce’s transition and passing of life. The incredible and thoughtful care he received will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, August 17 at branch 215 of the Royal Canadian Legion, 215 Maxwell King Drive, East St. Paul, MB.
