Obituary of Corinto DiRisio
Surrounded by his family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Corinto DiRisio, husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law on Friday, March 8, 2019. Corinto was born in Guilmi, Italy on April 7, 1932. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years Ada Olga, son Ralph (Leticia) and his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Adrienne and Lucas. Corinto was pre-deceased by his parents Raffaele and Irena, his brother Angelo Antonio and Sister Rosina (Luigi). He is survived by his brother-in-law Guiseppe Alberto, as well as family in Winnipeg, brothers Guiseppe (Antonietta), Nicola (Amalia), sister, Maria (Cesare-deceased), sister-in-law Maria (Angelo-deceased), and many nieces and nephews in Italy. Sister-in-law Fiorina (Armando) and many nieces and nephews in Belgium, as well as family in New York. Corinto immigrated to Canada in 1957, a young man looking for a better life, knowing that Winnipeg was where he wanted to put down roots and build his family. He returned to Italy and married Olga in 1962. Shortly thereafter Corinto returned to Winnipeg to get things ready for his new bride. In 1963 Olga joined him in Winnipeg. Corinto found work at CP Rail as a Carman Welder, which he took great pride in, and retired from in 1996. Corinto loved spending time with family and friends, it wasn’t uncommon to find him and Olga enjoying a day at Winnipeg beach sharing laughs and food with friends. He proudly brought the flavours and traditions of Italy with his passion for gardening, making wine and cured meat which he was happy to share with everyone. His faith was very important to him, attending Holy Rosary Parish and proudly volunteering when he was needed was near and dear to his heart. He loved travelling, he went to Italy multiple times as well as travelling throughout Canada, and to Mexico. Family was very important to Corinto, he always made time to attend his grandchildren’s activities, sporting events and school concerts, loving every minute of it, and looked forward to all the family get togethers, truly loving the company and conversations with everyone. Our family would like to thank the nurses and doctors on the 5th floor at the Victoria General Hospital for their support, love and compassion. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 14 at Holy Rosary Parish Church 510 River Avenue with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano as the Celebrant.
