Obituary of Dorothy Bergman
It is with great sadness that we announce that Dorothy Bergman peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 52 years Menno Bergman; three children, Jodi (Hugues), Lori, and Mark (Sam); and 13 grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Dave, Danny, Irene, and Elsie Hiebert. Predeceased by her parents Susan and Isaac; and sister, Edna Hiebert. Dorothy was born in Altona, Manitoba and was the second oldest of 6 children. The family worked hard creating and maintaining a life together. As a young girl, Dorothy was committed to her spiritual journey and enjoyed attending summer camps, Sunday school, youth gathering and singing in the choir. Church attendance and involvement was always a big part of her life and her original commitment to Christ was made at summer camp. Ironically, she was baptized on June 6, 1965 - the same month and day of her passing into the arms of her savior. Dorothy and Menno were married on May 6 1967, and moved to Winnipeg where she worked at CIBC in a variety of different roles until her retirement. She spent her time dedicated to her children and she was an active member of Gospel Mennonite Church, as well as serving food at Bethel place. Dorothy was a lively and energetic woman who enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies including gardening, traveling, volunteering and cooking. Her love and commitment to her family and grandchildren were paramount as she lived a life of quietly blessing others. Grandma’s consistent dedication and presence to each of them will be greatly missed. A viewing will be held on Sunday June 9 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home. Funeral Service is on Monday, June 10 at 11:00 am at Bethel Mennonite Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to the hospital staff at the Health Sciences Centre and to all family and friends for their support and love through this journey. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
