PATRICIA EMILY DEALLY It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom - Patricia Emily Deally (nee Griffith) on May 27, 2018, at the age of 82. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Donald on December 22, 2017, her parents, Garnet and Isabel (McIntyre) Griffith, as well as younger sisters, Gail Wilson (2018) and Linda Wright (2011). Keeping her memory alive, are children David & Melissa of Whistler, BC; Douglas of Winnipeg; Donald & Michelle of Winnipeg and Nancy & Sandy Slade of Burlington, ON. Along with grandchildren, Kathryn, Joseph, Spencer, Nicole, William, Matthew, Samantha and Connor. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, family members, and many friends. Mom was born in Winnipeg in 1936, grew up in St Vital, in a home now occupied by son Douglas. Graduating from the Winnipeg General Hospital nursing class of 57B in 1957, Mom started her nursing career that took her from Winnipeg to Grafton, ND, spending most of her career in the hospital nursery. She returned to Winnipeg, married Dad in 1958 and were together until his passing in 2017; a marriage that spanned 59 years. Mom and Dad had their children, who were fortunate to have the most wonderful parents, any child could imagine. Mom loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her time with Harrow United Church, their book club, as well as many social events. While raising her four children, Mom spent many years volunteering at the Winnipeg Health Science Centre, not surprisingly in the hospital nursery. She also looked forward to her annual nursing reunions and in later years, her new friends at her residence on Boulton Bay. Her favorite events were family ‘Wing Nights ‘at a local pub; spending time with her grandchildren, brunch, movie nights and family road trips. She was patient, caring, loving beyond belief and lived by the words ‘when handed lemons, make lemonade ‘. She helped create a large family that put love and life above all, and most importantly, instilled in her children that we should try the hardest we can and enjoy whatever we chose to pursue. We have lost a loving, patient and fantastic Mom and heaven gained a beautiful Angel. Cremation has taken place in accordance of Mom’s wishes, and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 23 at 2:00pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Because this is a celebration of Mom’s (Pat’s) life, the family invites attendees to ignore convention, and wear bright colors. In lieu of flowers a donation to Plan International Canada or Because I am a Girl is appreciated to continue her memory.
