Rona Vernisha Blair

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Rona peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Sunday afternoon March 31, 2019 at the age of 87 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mom was born January 6, 1932 to her parents Edward and Wilhel Malcolm in Flamstead Gardens St. James Jamaica. She migrated to Winnipeg in 1983 with her family. In no time she started working with the North West Child and Family Services as a Teaching Homemaker and Home support worker. She went on to successfully completing The Child and Development and Behaviour Management Program. Rona was preceded by her husband McKay Blair and partner Clinton Horny. She will be forever remembered by her 9 children Cynthia, Clement, Monica, Erica, Michael, Paul, Laura, Anthony, Kenneth and their spouses; 25 Grandchildren and their spouses; 21 Great grandchildren; and her 3 living sisters Dorothy Atkins, Ethlyn Malcolm and Adlyn Kerr; as well as nieces and nephews both in Canada and abroad. Rona loved to cook, sing, garden and especially loved family gathering at her home. You will be greatly missed and we will always carry your memories in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Our family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and Misericordia for the special care of our Mother. We would also like to express sincere gratitude to those who have giving us support during this time.
