Obituary of Leon Charles Bogart
Sunday, October 6th, Leon Charles Bogart (74) passed away peacefully in Florida. Born and raised in Delaware, Leon received his Associates Degree from Goldey-Beacom College. He then pursued a career in Accounting and made a name for himself at Dupont. After roughly thirty years, Leon retired from Dupont in 1993. Leon also served in the National Guard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wilmington, Delaware. Additionally, Leon was a founding member of Stone House Presbyterian Church in Toano, Virginia. Leon was born in Wilmington, Delaware to George and Margaret Bogart. He was also older brother to David Bogart. During his time at Dupont, he met and wed the Love of his life, Barbara Yohn Bogart. Together, Leon and Barb gave life to two wonderful daughters, Becky and Kelly. Leon and Barb welcomed the marriage of their eldest daughter to Carl Otey and was blessed with three grandchildren, Danielle, Alexis and James Otey. Leon enjoyed sports. He spent many hours on the golf course and loved watching baseball, his favorite team was the Washington Nationals. He was always looking forward to the next family vacation at Walt Disney World. There were few things that could make Leon smile more than a trip around the world’s most exotic rivers on the world famous Jungle Cruise. He would spend Sunday mornings with Kelly at church, and he was a huge part of his grandchildren’s lives making the most of every opportunity to attend band performances and karate tournaments. Leon is predeceased by George Bogart (father), Margaret Martz Bogart (mother), David Bogart (Brother) and Barbara Yohn Bogart (wife). He is survived by Rebecca Otey (daughter) and her husband Carl of Davenport, Florida; Kelly Elizabeth Bogart (daughter) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Danielle Ryan Otey, Alexis Rachelle Otey and James Alexander Otey (grandchildren) all of Davenport, Florida. A memorial service has been scheduled for Leon Saturday, October 19th at 10AM. The service will be held at Sone House Presbyterian Church in Toano, Virginia.
