Obituary of Patricia (Trisha) Jean Sundquist
On September 28, 2019, the world lost a kind and remarkable woman. Patricia (Trisha) Jean Sundquist, 73, passed away after a very brief battle with cancer. Trisha came into the world on August 29, 1946 to Richard and Myrtle Cambern in Tacoma, WA. From birth until her passing, her dimpled smile and her beautiful eyelashes put people at ease. She touched so many lives throughout her 73 years and had a distinct way of making people feel special and made the world a better place. She met the love of her life while attending college at CWU in Ellensburg. She and Craig married in 1966 and enjoyed over 50 amazing years together full of adventures big and small. Her biggest and most treasured adventure is when they uprooted their family from the city and moved to the country for a more peaceful, quiet life. As their kids grew older, they moved to the Yakima Valley. Trisha, with Craig, spent a lot of their time dancing and bowling. The Eagles, Skookum, and Nob Hill Lanes were a second home for her and the friends she made were like family to her. On the weekends they would hit the road to the mountains they loved so much. She loved to sit in the quiet woods and read while Craig fished. In her “free time” gardening was a passion. If you went to her home, you would almost always find her outside puttering in her yard and garden. She had a green thumb and enjoyed sharing her bounty with friends and family. Not only was she a devoted wife, but also a mother and grandmother. As her grandchildren grew, you would find her sitting sidelines cheering them on. She took great pride and joy watching them in all of their activities, almost never missing one. She may not have been able to be present for her grandkids in Texas, but she always beamed with pride talking about their adventures and accomplishments and showing off their pictures to everyone she knew. She will always be her grandkids’ biggest fan. Trisha spent over 30 years in her career at Yakima Federal Savings and Loan, retiring in 2017. She made many lifelong friends while working at the bank, whom she cherished dearly. Patricia is survived by her children: Robert (Tami) Sundquist and their children Leila, Zane, and Otto from Lewisville, TX and Deborah (John) Thomas and their children Michelle, Trevor, Colin, and Lauren from Selah, WA, brother Richard (Dianne) Cambern from St. George, UT. Also a special love for her “second daughter” Amanda Matlock who held a very special place in her heart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Craig, parents Richard and Myrtle Cambern, and sister Penny Austin. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 12, 2019 (indoor/outdoor) at her daughter’s home, 3171 Speyers Road, Selah, WA from 12 PM - 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation or any local animal shelter. See ya later alligator… Let the country road take you home…
