Wilbern Lynn Welch, Jr.

Wilbern Lynn Welch, Jr., 70, of Waynesboro passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Shenandoah Hospice House, Fishersville. Born June 21, 1950 in the District of Columbia, he was the son of the late Wilbern Lynn Welch, Sr. and Rhoda Evelyn Rhea Welch. He was a U.S. Veteran having served his country honorably with the Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Thomas Welch and one sister-in-law, Mary Welch. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Doris E. Welch; five children, Walter Sparks (Kristie Sparks) of Waynesboro, Christopher Sparks, Sr. (Darlene Marshall) of Waynesboro, Rhoda Welch (Doug Claytor) of Waynesboro, Jonathan Welch (Kristin Cain) of Fishersville, and Adam Welch (Tabatha Fitzgerald) of Waynesboro; 16 grandchildren, Angel Maddox, Dakota Henderson, Zachary Bozga, Christopher Sparks, Jr., Allison Evans, Samantha Evans, Brittany Sparks, Lani Welch, Brian Sparks, Amber Sparks, Link Welch, Isaiah Welch, Ethan Welch, Branten Welch, Paul Claytor, and Lula Fitzgerald; two great-grandchildren; six siblings, Wade Welch (Sharon) of Zion Crossroads, Va, Ricky Welch of PA, Welsley Welch (Lisa) of Louisa, Randy Welch (Barbara) of Orange, VA, Tony Welch (Shannon) of Madison, VA, and Evelyn Meadows (Roger) of Orange, VA; sister-in-law, Charlotte Welch of Louisa, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews. Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
