Obituary of Sharon "Suzie" Tolbert
Sharon "Suzie" Jarboe Tolbert, 82, of Evansville, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, April 25. She was born on February 20, 1939 in Evansville, Indiana as the big sister of the family. Suzie was a member of St. John's East United Church of Christ. Her family were members of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church, Michigan Street, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was actively involved in various activities of church life and when in high school taught in the Sunday School Department and in Bible School. Suzie was born in Evansville and is a graduate of German township Grade School and Reitz High School, class of 1957, where she was a majorette. When a teen she was selected Honored Queen of the International Order of Job's Daughters, a Masonic organization for girls. Suzie was an adventurous person who was a graduate of the Airlines School in Kansas City, Missouri right after high school. She was a reservations agent for American Airlines in Chicago. She retired as a senior analyst at the American Airlines Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma after working for American Airlines for thirty-four years. While living in Chicago she did volunteer work in the gift shop of Columbus Hospital. As an employee of American Airlines, Suzie was able to travel the world extensively with friends and her husband Frank. As a graduation gift to her younger siblings, she took each of them on a trip around the United States. After retiring from the airlines, Suzie put her love for crafting to work and opened an antique and craft store in Newburgh called the Saratoga Trunk. Her husband Frank helped run the business. Suzie was preceded by her husband Frank Tolbert Jr., father, Arthur Jarboe; mother, Evelyn Jarboe; sister, Sara Jarboe Rood; brothers, Stan and Steve Jarboe; father-in-law Frank Tolbert Sr.; and mother-in-law Ruth Tolbert. She is survived by her sisters Stephanie (Steve) Niemeier and Sherrie Jeffries and sister-in-laws Jane Jarboe and Carol Wurtzinger; brother-in-law Tim Rood; nephews Kyle Niemeier, Andy (Audrey) Niemeier, Sean Jeffries and nieces Tandy Jarboe, Emily (Andrew) Hart, Madison Jarboe, Marisa (Connor) Moylan and Makena (Shane) Webb, Donna (Norman) Christensen, Vickie (Dale) Luetscher, Pam (Jose) Hernandez, Stacy Romanowski plus several great nieces and nephews; 2 great great nephews. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Alexander West Chapel and officiated by Rev. Mary Hurley. Burial will follow in Alexander Memorial Park.
