Theresa B. Kelley

Theresa B. Kelley was born January 02, 1935 in Washington DC. Her parents Mayme J. Craven Brand, and Joseph William Brand named her Mary Theresa Brand. She attended school at St. Patrick’s Academy and graduated in June 1952. After graduation, she began her long and successful career at the Pentagon as a civil servant for the U.S. Department of the Army. Theresa was a devout Catholic from her early years until the time of her death. Starting at the Parishes of St. Patrick’s then onto St. Rita in Arlandria where Theresa met and married John J. Kelley Jr. on September 17, 1977. After marriage, they moved to Falls Church and joined St. Philip parish. Both were very active in supporting and participating in Mass service and the rosary group. After her husband’s death, Theresa moved to her home at Greenspring, a retirement community. She became a member of the St. Lawrence parish. While enjoying life at Greenspring, Theresa developed wonderful friendships with Ann, Maria, Jean, Norma, Olga, Gloria and other lovely people whom Theresa would have mentioned. Theresa faced many medical challenges in the last few years. Her family would like to express our utmost gratitude to the INOVA hospital system, the medical community at Garden Ridge of Greenspring, and Capital Caring Hospice. All provided excellent care and support. Theresa was a kind and very private person. She had requested that in lieu of flowers that you consider donating to Catholic Charities, or a charity of your choice. St. Lawrence Catholic Church will hold a Mass for Theresa at 10:30 AM Friday, July 2, 2021. St. Lawrence Catholic Church is located at 6222 Franconia Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22310. Burial follows immediately after the service at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 South Kings Hwy. Alexandria VA 22306. Interment will be private.
