Ferguson, Richard Harold, 95, of Midlothian joined Edith, his loving wife of 73 years, in heaven on Saturday, July 17, 2021. Richard grew up in Buckingham County, loved his family and had a passion for fishing, gardening, bee keeping, and could build/fix just about anything. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany and receiving several medals including the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Richard retired from Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority in 1991 and before that he was a machine operator at Liggett & Myers. He is survived by his brother, Rupert Ferguson of Richmond; children, Diane Thieneman (Larry) of Florida, Norman Van Ferguson (Joanne) of Henrico and Annette Cupp (Larry) of Midlothian; grandchildren, Heather, Erica, Nathan, Travis, Cory, Mark and Laura; great-grandchildren, Len, Allison and one due in November; several precious nieces and nephews. Richard and Edith were blessed by the friendship and care of Ruth Jefferson. The family will receive friends at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot on Tuesday, July 27 from 11 to 1 followed by the funeral service at 1:00 and interment at 3:00 at Dale Memorial Park.
