Ruth Weber

Ruth I. Weber, 91, of Huntington passed away early Friday morning, September 17, 2021, at Tipton Place. Ruth spent her early years in Canada and moved from Ontario to Huntington when she was seven years old, where she finished her education. She graduated from Huntington High school in 1948 and Huntington (College) University in 1952. She later received her master’s degree from St. Francis University in 1974. Ruth taught in the school systems of Columbia City, IN, Welland County, Ontario, Canada, Louisville, KY, and Huntington County for fifty-four years. She spent thirty years teaching English in the Huntington County classrooms and another twenty years teaching Adult Education in the Huntington County School System after retirement. Ruth was born on July 16, 1930, in Stevensville, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Elmer and Inez (Schad) Becker. She was united in marriage to Rev. Burton P. Weber on August 28, 1954. Burton preceded her in death on April 13, 1996. Survivors include a son: Douglas B. (Betty Ruth) Weber of Osceola, IN; a daughter: Elaine R. (Travis) Willour of Huntington; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren. A sister: Carol D. (James) Nolan of Fort Wayne; and a brother: E. Carlson (Naomi) Becker of Traverse City, MI. She was preceded in death by a brother: W. Winston Becker and a sister: Elizabeth J. Favorite. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. College Park United Brethren Church, 1945 College Ave., Huntington, Indiana. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
