Janet Louise Gasteiger

If you knew Janet, you knew a bigger-than-life spirit in a small package. Vibrant and energetic while thoughtful and generous, Janet had a gift for touching people’s lives and bringing optimism and hope. She knew the needs of those she loved, offering support in all ways she could. Janet was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She pursued various interests professionally, through volunteer work, and through classes and studies. She really shined in every role she played, because she genuinely cared about the people around her and she was always striving to be the best person she could be. Janet was caregiver to her husband, Werner, throughout the last years of his life during his battle with multiple sclerosis. Their love for each other and their life together set the example of what marriage is and can be. When Janet’s own illness developed rapidly in the last weeks of her life, shocking all who knew her, she handled every moment with courage and a profound trust in something greater. She felt, spoke of, and emanated a deep sense of connection and love for all that is. Janet passed away in her home on October 8, 2020. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her, including: her son Gary (Anne); daughter Tina (Adam) Lepper; grandson Tyler (Wendey) and great-granddaughter Olivia. It was Janet’s wish that there be no services after her passing.
