Peter Gritis Jr.

Peter Gritis Jr, 65 of Richmond, VA died on December 24 after a lengthy struggle with a chronic illness. Peter was born into a military family on base at Ft. Belvoir, VA to Peter and Helen Hurych Gritis and was the beloved only brother to his three sisters. Peter spent his youth in Turkey and in Germany as his father was a career military officer. When Peter was nine years old the family returned to the United States and made Fairfax their home. As Peter grew, so did his love for the outdoors and wildlife. Peter was happiest while on one of his boats, enjoying the magnificence of the natural world. His family treasures their many memories of happy times together while boating, fishing and traveling the US. Peter is survived by his wife, Karen, his 3 children: Erin (Court), Peter Tyler (Alison) and Spencer (Audrey) and his three sisters, Patricia Lessard (William, Jr), Carol Russell (James) and Gail Bourner (Richard) and a niece and five nephews.
