Obituario de Osny de Souza Alves
Osny de Souza Alves, 56 years of age, passed away on March 13, 2023. Osny was born February 14, 1967 in São Paulo, Brazil to João da Silva Alves and Floriana de Souza Alves. He was the oldest of 3 children. He received a degree in General Management in 1999 from Universidade Hoyler. Then in 2009, he received a degree in Education for Portuguese and Spanish languages from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. Osny became a teacher and taught Portuguese Language and Spanish as a second language until 2017. Osny was a very popular teacher and his students were his priority. He was very proud of them. He even has kept in touch with many of them thanks to the many social media apps. In late 2017, Osny decided he wanted a change in his life and made the move to the United States. He arrived in Miami and began looking for work. After many short termed jobs, he began working as a painter in 2018. In February 2019, he began working for Tribe Construction. This company brought him and several others to Evansville, Indiana to work with the remodeling of the Hilton Garden Inn. In March, he was contacted by a woman named Becky on the website, Bumble. He was very polite and wrote poems about her based only on the photos he saw and the few text conversations they had. They both knew there was something there. At that time, his job was 7 days a week, 10 or more hours per day. The couple finally was able to meet on April 11, 2019. They met at Old Chicago in Evansville. At first, Becky was not sure about this. Osny was unable to speak English and Becky was not sure she was up for this adventure. A few days later, they texted again and agreed to meet one more time. On April 16, 2019, Becky and Osny met for a walk along the riverfront in Newburgh. It was love at second sight! From that day on, they were inseparable. In June, the job at Hilton Garden Inn was complete, but instead of moving to the next job with the crew, he decided to stay with Becky. On July 13 they got engaged, then on December 21, 2019, they were married and resided in Newburgh, IN ever since. Osny continued as a painter with a few local companies. He enjoyed working with Turpen Painting for about a year and a half. Most recently he began working with Devine Painting. At each job, he was a very hard worker and very dedicated. He enjoyed working with all of his co-workers and became friends with them all. Osny was also a published writer and poet. He has written and published several books. He loved writing poetry. He even wrote many songs, including one for his wife, Becky, and a couple for his church that have become regular songs that are sung during worship. Osny loved his Lord and it showed every day of his life. He read the Bible and prayed as much as he could. In Brazil, he attended IASD Capão Redondo, a Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In Newburgh, he attended Mt. Olive General Baptist Church with his wife. He was a wonderful witness to many.
