Sandra Pugh Layne

Sandra Pugh Layne, age 73, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021. She was born in Lynchburg on July 26, 1947, daughter of the late Roy L. Pugh and the late Lorice C. Pugh. In addition to her parents, 2 brothers, David Pugh and Phillip Pugh, preceded her in death. Sandra attended Randolph Memorial Baptist Church. She was always on the go, loving to travel especially to the beach. She was an animal lover and in her spare time she was an avid reader and enjoyed baking. She is survived by her loving husband, Nelson W. Layne, Sr.; 2 children, Wendy Hines and husband Jamie and Wendel Layne and wife Carol and a sister, Susan Hogan. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 with Dr. Derek Hamby officiating. Burial will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens. If you so desire, memorials in Sandra’s memory may be made to Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, 1701 Thomson Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
