Carl David Carey

Carl Carey died peacefully in his home on January 17th, 2018 in Fairfax Station, Virginia surrounded by his family. Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Carl was born on November 26th, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Margaret Hamaker and Walter Carey. He grew up in Marion, Indiana and attended Purdue University for his degree of Bachelor of Science. He went on to get his degree of Master of Arts from University of Northern Colorado. After faithfully serving his country for 22 years and retiring from his Army career, Carl relocated to Northern Virginia where he met his wife of nearly 30 years, Janice Dezzutti. After marrying in 1988, Carl ran an extremely successful computer business, Tempest Products Incorporated. Carl retired again and spent his time being a hands-on dad. In retirement, he enjoyed running (and ran seven marathons in his lifetime!), golfing, and spending time with family. Carl is survived by his wife, Janice Carey; their two children, Kylie (John) Powell and Joshua Carey; and a granddaughter Quinn Powell, and countless other loving family members and friends. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will take place on Monday, January 22nd at 2:00pm at Demaine Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carl’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends send donations to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in honor of Carl. The family would also like to thank Vitas Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their care.
