Rosellen Loges Simon (Rosie) passed peacefully on January 29, 2018 surrounded by her children. She will be sadly missed. Rosellen was born June 2, 1922 in New Martinsville, WV, daughter of the late Clarence Albert Loges and Fannie Tippens Loges. A beloved wife and mother, Rosellen lived in Annandale, VA for the last 53 years. She also resided in Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Germany during her husband’s military service. Rosellen (Mom-Mom) is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Bienert, husband, George and sons Marty Simon (wife, Devereaux) and Steve Simon (wife, Susan Query). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Margaux Simon (partner, Raquel Bartz), Matthew Simon (wife, Carrie), Nicole Metzger (husband, Ben), and Sam Simon; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Bartz, Sam Metzger, Johnny Monroe Simon, and Rosellen Elizabeth Simon; niece, Lynda Kasparek (husband, Bob), nephew, Rob Loges (wife, Debbie), cousin, Mary Ann Moore; sister in law, Gloria Ritchey, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Colonel C. G. Simon Jr. (Buddy), her brother, Bob Loges, and her grandson, Nicholas Simon. Rosellen graduated from Wheeling High School in Wheeling, WV and worked for many years as a telephone operator in Washington, DC and later as a real estate agent in Virginia for Rowan Realty Century 21. Besides daylily gardening, flower arranging, playing bridge, shopping, antiquing, bird watching, dancing, and cooking, she especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite place to gather with family was on trips to the ocean particularly to Bethany Beach, DE and Virginia Beach, VA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Annandale, VA. The family is especially thankful for the loving caregiver services of Teresa Banzuelo, Narry Covarrubias, Norie Miano-Belt, and Mimie McCanim over the past few years, as well as the excellent services of the Adler Center for Hospice Care in Aldie, VA in her final days. The funeral and burial service are to be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 12th at 1pm. Family and friends are to arrive 45 minutes early for the service at the Old Post Chapel. Arrangements coordinated by Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Virginia State Firefighters Association.
