Obituary of Mildred Hudson Bowling
Mildred Lucille Hudson Bowling, 99 of Lynchburg, widow of Emmett Jackson Bowling, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Fairmont Crossing. She was born on April 14, 1920 at Tye River in Nelson County, daughter of the late Marcellus H. Hudson and Nannie Crawford Hudson. In addition to her husband, Emmett and her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, David Allen Bowling. Mildred was a retired LPN for Virginia Baptist Hospital and had lived in Lynchburg for many years. She was a faithful member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church and was much loved by her friends and family and will be missed by everyone who knew her. It is said that she was a woman who never complained. Survivors include, a son, E. Noel Bowling and wife Margaret of Altavista; daughter, Nancy B. Henline and husband David of Amherst; 3 grandchildren, Emmett N. Bowling, Jr., of Petersburg, Laura B. Mensch and husband Blake of Greensboro, NC, and Jonathan D. Henline of Amherst; 2 great grandchildren, Carly Mensch and Joshua Mensch both of Greensboro, NC. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with Pastor David Sage officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Following the interment, family and friends are invited back to the funeral home for a reception honoring Mildred’s life. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
