Ruth Marie Babbs

Ruth Marie Babbs, age 75, of Bloomington, passed away at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House on Wednesday (07/01/2020). Born July 5, 1944 in Vigo County, she was the daughter of Richard and Gladys Marie (Thompson) Powell. She worked as a supervisor for Indiana Metalcraft prior to retirement. Ruth enjoyed watching W.W.E. wrestling and westerns on television. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Richard Babbs and Timothy William Babbs, both of Bloomington; two daughters, Tammy Louise Sims, of Bloomington and Theresa Kay Duke, of Vincennes, her sister, Sharon Flinn, of Bloomington; several grandchildren including Christina Sutton, Sierra Harding, Carl Sims, Tommy Sims, Heather Thomas, Jamie Babbs, Heather Babbs and Tyler Babbs and also several great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Babbs in 1988 and two brothers, Norman Powell and Melvin Powell. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel with Pete Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
