Violet Dorothy Riedlinger

Violet Dorothy Riedlinger, age 100, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Violet was born July 22, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Phillip and Minnie (Phrommer) Oschmann. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago and had always been a talented musician and entertainer. She was a regular musician and radio talent on live radio programs on WLS radio in Chicago for many years. Violet had also taught art at Morraine Valley Community College where she also attended chapel and was a regular friendly face on campus. She was a creative talent who brought joy and wonderful memories to countless people over her 100 years. She also enjoyed auto racing of all sorts. She loved watching the races on television and once spent a day with her favorite driver, Arie Luyendyk. Violet had also been a fixture at the Carmel VFW Post 10003 since moving to Carmel. She had served as the post historian and auxiliary chaplain. Violet is survived by her loving daughter Weslynn Kane, beloved grandson Chris Kane, and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her dear brothers Phillip Oschmann, Jr. and Herbert Oschmann. A visitation for Violet will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Leppert Mortuaries – Carmel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:15 PM at Carmel Cemetery. Masks are required and social distancing exercised.
