Obituary of Roger Dale Hudgins Sr.
Roger Dale Hudgins, Sr., went home to be with his Lord on December 29, 2020, surrounded by his devoted wife and children. He was born March 24, 1946 in Danville Virginia to Raymond Guthrie and Charlotte Johnson Hudgins, brother to Larry Ray Hudgins and sister, Patsy Hudgins Goad and son-in-law Robert Ragland who all preceded him in death. An amazing reunion took place in heaven yesterday. Roger is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 23 years Patricia (Patti) Lowe Hudgins, children Melissa Hudgins Ragland, Roger Jr. (Lori) S.C., Michael Lowe and “Pop Pop’s” precious grandsons Ryker Pierce and Rhett Lawson Hudgins and brother Philip Barry Hudgins (Kami), Sisters in law Linda I. Hudgins, Mary Ann (Merci) Reynolds, and Evelyn Lowe Woody (Woody); and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Roger served his country (1965–1968) as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne stationed in Germany. He was employed with Pepsi-Cola for 18 years and James River beverage for 12 years. Roger’s gift of humor and love for his family and friends were truly his tribute to life. He was known as My Arts (to Patti), Pop Pop and UR as well as many other endearing names. He never knew a stranger! His loves were football (played for Dan River High School), golf, children and animals. A celebration of Roger's life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating.
