Stanley received his B.A. from The University of Texas School of Business. During his time on campus, he was heavily involved in student government. He served as the head rush captain of the Phi Sigma Delta fraternity. Nominated by his peers, Stanley was a member of the Silver Spurs University of Texas Honorary Organization. Stanley received his J.D. from St. Mary’s University, where he helped in the editing of the first volume of the St. Mary’s Law Journal, one of his most intellectual endeavors.
After law school, he married Brandi, whom he shared his life with for 25 years. They were married at the Agudas Achim Synagogue. Following in his sister Jerri's footsteps, their reception was held at the historic St. Anthony Hotel. As an attorney, he was an active member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and ATLA. Stanley loved the law. And while he did become a formidable negotiator and litigator by trade, he was also an avid rare wine collector and connoisseur. His desire to learn about and love of fine wine brought him to the vineyards of Burgundy, Tuscany, Bordeaux, and Champagne. Along with his lifelong friends, he founded the Texas Tequila Association of San Antonio and helped organize an incredible food and wine tour of Italy, where memories of a lifetime were made for all. Stanley was renowned for hosting memorable celebrations at his home in San Antonio, where he enjoyed cooking gourmet meals for his friends and relatives.
He shared in Brandi’s great love of horses as she founded the Majestic Oaks Equestrian Club. They bred and showed Peruvian Paso horses across the country for many years, ultimately producing 3 U.S. National Champions. He raised many animals throughout his life, including two prize-winning Irish Setters and a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot, whom he taught to sing the “Eyes of Texas.” His favorite pastime was fishing in the bay of Rockport, Texas, for speckled trout and redfish.
But more important than anything else in his life was his love and devotion to his family. Especially: Brandi and his 3 boys; Nicolas, Brandon, and Zachary, whom he would have done anything in life for and who are responsible for Stanley’s most brilliant opus; his 5 grandchildren; Alexis, Kimber, Bella, Duke, and Jameson.
Stanley was generous and kind. He loved life. He saw beauty when he looked at the world around him and chose to experience all that it had to offer. His desire and need to share this world with others are why he will be remembered.
