Hue Quang Tran

Hue Quang Tran (Cau 7), 72, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 18, 1947 to Duoc Van Tran and Vinh Thi Nguyen in Saigon, Vietnam. After high school, he worked as a factory worker and at a non-profit organization providing scholarships for the poor.
He became a vegetarian in 1976 after the passing of his mother and remained so until his passing.
In 1997, he emigrated to the United States to be with his brothers and sister’s families. At first living in Santa Ana, California and then moving to Springfield, Virginia in 1999.
He worked at the Virginian Retirement Community until 2010 when he retired. During his retirement, he was employed part-time at the Giant grocery store.
Routinely, he traveled between Vietnam and the US. In Vietnam, he dedicated his time and money to helping restore temples and providing for the poor and the unfortunate. He also cared for and maintained his grandparents’ original house in the countryside. In the US, he donated to St. Jude’s, the homeless, and the many local buffets.
A devout Buddhist his entire life, his head was finally shaved by Thay Minh Chau on January 20, 2020 as the final act to his eternal dedication to Buddhism.
He is survived by his sister, Minh Tran; brother, Peter Tran; the many, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
