Billy Ray Cole, 90, of Greencastle passed away Monday, September 28, 2020, at Asbury Towers.
Billy was born in Turkey Creek, Louisiana on February 18, 1930, the son of Otis, Sr., and Nettie (Miley) Cole.
Mr. Cole proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War Era. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church; Shriners; and Masonic Lodge. Billy worked for 32 years in Machine Repair for IBM until his retirement. He also owned Bill Cole Inc. Excavating for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Asbury, Brooklyn, New York, and Wanda Sue Thompson, Greencastle; five grandchildren, Jason Asbury, (David), Brooklyn, New York, Jeremy Asbury, (Jessica), Louisville, Colorado, Judy Anderson, (Flint), Coatesville, Tabitha Wells, (Kurt), Greencastle, and Tiffany Thompson, Greencastle; three great grandchildren, Elijah Gibson, Keegan Wells, and Kaiden Wells; two step-great grandchildren, Lane Anderson and Brittni Young; two brothers, Joe Cole, and Otis Cole Jr., (Tanna); a brother-in-law, Wesley Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Joan (Sutherlin) Cole; a sister, Betty Jean Johnson; a brother, Bobby Cole; and a sister-in-law, Teniney Cole.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fillmore Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday. A Masonic Service will be held prior to the start of service. Military Honors will be provided graveside by Putnam County Honor Guard.
