Gene Lee Hanson
May 12, 1947 – July 1, 2021

Gene Lee Hanson, 74, passed away peacefully on July 1. Born in Acton, IN, he grew up fishing, camping, and enjoying the great outdoors with his brother Leon and cousins. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served honorably aboard the USS Conway. After leaving the Navy, he enjoyed a long career in telecommunications working in California, Louisiana, and Indiana until he retired in 1998. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary (Fuller) Hanson and Kenneth Hanson, brother Leon, and son Tim. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Jill Hanson, his son Jeremy Hanson, his step-children Jennifer Lee Thomas, Michelle Lee (Thomas) Wilkinson, Roger Lee Thomas, and many beloved cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
