OBITUARY
Robert Nelson Hale
December 22, 1948 – July 16, 2021
IN THE CARE OF
Murphy Funeral Homes
On July 16, 2021, Robert (Bob) Hale, 72, ended the lease on his Earth suit and moved into the arms of his Heavenly Father, where he is alive and thriving. Bob’s faith and persistence was an inspiration to everyone he encountered. Six years ago, the doctor gave him one year to live, but God gave him six extra years, surprising his doctors!
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle to his family, which was always one of his greatest priorities. Bob’s family grew to love the White Mountains of NH, one of Bob’s favorite places, where he took them on annual camping trips. Some of their fondest memories come from this time together. Bob particularly loved hiking Mt. Washington and experiencing its extreme weather.
Bob loved to tell stories about his many overseas mission trips to places like Mongolia, Siberia, Haiti, and Senegal, among others. He had an enduring passion for people unreached by the Gospel. He taught business principles in West Africa to help people interested in starting micro-businesses in their countries. He had a life-long interest in reaching people across the globe with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Bob graduated from college with a degree in Business Administration and worked most of his life in the financial sector; his most recent position as a Finance Director for a nonprofit organization.
Bob was an army veteran, as was his father before him and his daughter after him. He served as a medic during the war in Vietnam.
Bob lived to meet his first grandson, Jaxton, and is survived by his wife Patricia, son Jonathan Hale, and daughter Julianne (Hale) Nolin. Bob’s loving family includes his brother Bruce Hale and sisters Barbara Jones and Beverly Hale.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at Open Heaven Church, 6066 Leesburg Pike, Suite 407, Falls Church, VA.
