John R. Siela, 86 of Markle and a lifelong resident of Wells County, passed away early Friday morning September 3, 2021, at his home. John was a graduate of East Rockcreek High School, he farmed for his father, then served in the U.S. Army for two years. He received an associate degree in Business Administration and was employed by Magnavox and GE as a line foreman. He had a passion for cars and owned John Siela Ford Dealership in Montpelier. He received his Health Facility Administrator’s License and was employed at Meadowvale Health and Rehabilitation Center. John assisted in the startup of Markle Health Care where he retired as administrator after 6 years. He and his wife established a successful antique mall in Markle where he enjoyed helping others find treasures. John also held Insurance and Real Estate Licenses and enjoyed I.U. and Notre Dame sports. He cherished being with his family whom he loved so deeply. John treasured his Markle community of friends and thoroughly enjoyed his J.O.Y. Class at Markle Church of Christ where he was a lifetime member. He was an avid reader, his favorite book being the Holy Bible, and even authored his own book. John was generous, caring, and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. John was born on November 9, 1934, a son of the late Leo and Emma (Nelson) Siela. John married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Jean Cheesman, on April 24, 1955, in Keystone, IN. She survives. In addition to his wife Jean of 66 years, additional survivors include: his two sons, Ronald (Janet) Siela of Warsaw, IN and Rudi (Pamela) Siela of Huntertown; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a sister: Beverly (Claron) Boots of Bluffton and a daughter-in-law: Susan Siela Faus. John was preceded in death by two sons: Richard and Randy Siela; grandson Landon Siela, great-grandson Alexander Siela and 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle, IN. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation at the Markle Church of Christ with Blake Caley officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Markle Cemetery with Rick Smalling officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made out to either the Visiting Nurse and Hospice or the Riley NICU Bereavement Program, both in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
