David J. Irving Sr.

David J. Irving, Sr., 86, of Highland Springs, Va. went home to be with his Father January 11, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Irving; four children, David J. Irving, Jr. of Hanover, Velda Whitehead of Yorktown, Deborah Irving of Richmond and Charles S. Irving (Margaret) of Richmond; sister, Geraldine Umphlet (Al) of Richmond; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. We would like to express thanks for his loving care givers, Carolyn L. Boatwirght, DeShawn Taylor and Jan Lumpkin. David served our country in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from Cadmus/ Wm. Bryd Press. He was currently an active member of Antioch Baptist Church. He spent his free time volunteering for Meals on Wheels. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, Va. 23229, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018. Interment will take place 12 noon, Friday, January 19, 2018 at Albert G.
