Marjorie E. Berks

Marjorie E. Berks, 84, of Kokomo passed away Thursday August 8, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. She was born September 29, 1934 to the late Samuel Sandler and Netty (Moss) Sandler in Brooklyn, NY. Marjorie graduated from Brooklyn College in New York with an English Major. She worked in a publishing company for several years prior to marrying her first husband Albert Berks. She then went to work as a substitute teacher in various school systems. Once moving to Kokomo she worked at Continental Steel and met her second husband Phil Johnson. She also worked for Downey Insurance as a sales agent. She retired at the age of 70 after many years of service. Marjorie loved her family and her dogs, especially her last one Kilo. They brought her so much joy. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending time with her family. Surviving Marjorie are her children, Amy Shemoel (Danny), Russ Berks (DeAnn), Kelly Johnson, grandchildren, Abigail Shemoel, Megan Bond, Madison Johnson and Adam Lintner, great grandchildren, Emma Bond, Jada Lintner, and Isabella VanMeter. Those who have passed before her are her parents, late husbands Albert Berks and D. Phillip Johnson, siblings Larry Sandler and Ellen Herman. A memorial service for Marjorie will take place at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, Sunday August 11, 2019 at 2:00pm with Carol Anderson officiating. Friends may visit the family from 1 to 2pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Kokomo Humane Society in Marjorie's memory.
