Florence Massey

On Thursday November 28, 2019 the angels came and carried our mother, Florence Massey to Heaven. She passed with her children at her side. Florence was born February 26, 1926 to Edward R. and Maurita Selley who preceded her in death. Florence was a 1944 graduate of Kokomo High School, then went to work for General Motors, where she worked for 30 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of UAW Local 292. On October 16, 1948, Florence married Larry R. Massey. They were married 64 years at the time of his passing. She was completely devoted to him and shared numerous hobbies together. During their retirement, they started delivering the Kokomo Tribune. They made many friends and were much beloved by their customers. The pride of Florence's life were her four children; Dotty Beck (Dick) of Kokomo, Bud Massey (Julie) Massey of Greentown, Larry Massey (Donna) of Kokomo, and Rita Nimtz (Larry) of Greentown. She also left behind her grandchildren; Christy Harvey (Joe) of New Port Richey, Fl., Tracy DeHoff (James) of Grand Blanc, MI., Jennifer Collins (Rodney) of Kokomo, Debbie Baker (Rob) of Kokomo, Jim Beck of Flora, Michelle Keller of Kokomo, Brian Massey of Fishers, Ryan Massey (Jennifer) of Kokomo, Melissa Watkins of Westfield, Len Massey of Fairmont, Elizabeth Fultz (Danny) of Jamestown, Matt Massey of Indianapolis, Jessica Hayes (Don) of Kokomo, Kyle Nagy (Stephanie) of Kokomo, and Morgan Nimtz (companion Tre Herglund of Greentown). Florence also leaves behind twenty-five great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and one nephew, Ricky Selley of Arizona. All these children and grandchildren will sure miss Grandma sitting around the pool watching them swim. They also will miss her cookies and candy! She dearly loved all the whooping and hollering and the occasional splash. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her only brother and sister-in-law Jim and Rosalie Selley of Phoenix, AZ, and she also lost two great grandchildren, Shelby and Tucker. Florence's funeral will be held at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel on Wednesday December 4, 2019 at 1pm. There will be a one hour visitation prior from 12pm to 1pm. The family thanks Beth Fretty and Jennifer Massey for their compassionate and loving care during her last days, and thank you to her Hospice provider, Carrie.
